Sankranthi Celebration Content

January 17, 2021

H eralding and ushering in 150 Vysyavite families in the Bay Area, RJ Bhargavi welcomed in festivities for four hours.
A dorned in Indian attires and backdrops, ambiance filled with joy and excitement we kicked off the evening with folk songs from groups to individuals in Telegu and Kannada.
R egi Pallu significance shared by Lakshmi had us ogling at the cuties who were blessed by a shower of fruit, money and flowers from parents and grandparents.
V ivacious duo Prasanna and Bheem had information to share and learn on drawing from our memoirs back in India. Roaring with fervor was the “Sambaralu” or celebration of the Sankranthi festival in each region and state.
E rnest efforts were shared by Balaji who had a kite workshop that he has many an adult and child excited about. Coupled with Ranjith’s efforts to source a caterer to deliver yummy pandaga bhojanam.
S oaring high with talent, the community announced the essay, rangoli and soup competition.
T ug of war between the sakhis and adda was culminated with a Sankranthi themed Family Feud game. Battled to the end, the six Sakhi’s come out victorious, leaving the adda saying “they let the women win to have peace at home for the season”. Now, now now … the girls did it! Shout out to the tech team and the party planners of Sreedhar, Ranjith, Chitra, Shalini and Jyotsna for all the long hours to orchestrate a beautiful event.

On the occasion of Sankranthi,   as a harvest festival , VSF will donate $600 to Feed the hungry in our local Bayarea , through Community Seva organization .

The donation amount comes from the generous donors of Sai Foods for Sankranthi thali meals & matching company donations by VSF families.
